The Green Grab Investment Program

The Green Grab Investments Program connects high-growth sustainable companies who are seeking seed-stage investments with our pool of mentors and investors.

While we are open to all kinds of sustainable companies, for 2013 we will be more likely to work with Clean Tech, Clean Energy, and Base of the Pyramid Companies. 

The program works like this: 

  1. The William James Foundation identifies companies that are in a position to use a small investment (4- or 5- figures) to get to a discernible next level of their company's development.
  2. The companies are screened by William James Foundation staff.
  3. Firms that are deemed viable and a good match for the interests and expertise of our investors are interviewed by phone.
  4. Some of these companies are invited to present at our screening day. (Next event: June 2013, in Washington, DC.)
  5. At the screening day, some companies are invited to present at the Green Grab event itself. (Next event: July 19th, in Washington, DC.)
  6. At the Green Grab, companies will pitch in front of cameras and an audience, and, more importantly, a panel of accredited investors who are interested in their firm. All parts of the pitch -- the presentation, the Q & A, the investor delibreration, and the investor decisions about next steps, are public. These sessions can run from 30 to 90 minutes, and get very detailed. 
  7. If the investors are interested in moving forward wth a particular company, due dilligence is performed to make sure that the entrepreneur's claims during their pitch match their reality, and that their company is in a legal position to receive the investment. 
  8. All past presenters are invited to provide updates on their company status at future Green Grab events.
